WELSPUN IS AMONGST THE LARGEST HOME TEXTILE MANUFACTURERS IN THE WORLD.
We started as Welspun Winilon Mills in the district of Palghar in the year 1985. We were a small texturizing unit in a small, sleepy town between Mumbai and Gujarat.
Six years down the line in 1991, Welspun Polyester India Limited went public with its IPO and subsequently became Welspun India Limited. We started small but grew at an extraordinary pace.
In 1993 the terry towel facility was set up at Vapi, Gujarat. Legend has it that no one could believe such superior quality towels could be made outside of Turkey.
Welspun USA was incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Welspun Global Brands Limited. With Sales, Design and Marketing based in NYC, Welspun focused on getting to know the US consumer. Welspun USA also established a traditional distribution network in the state of Ohio.
A PIECE OF BRITISH ROYAL HISTORY
In 2006 Welspun acquired Christy’s of UK, a brand of towels that had the legacy of catering to none other than the British Royal Family itself.
A COVETED SOUVENIR
Considered one of the world’s most sought-after souvenirs, the manufacturing of Wimbledon towels began at Welspun, Vapi in 2006
CORE RE-ENGINEERED HYGROCOTTON ®
Welspun created Hygrocotton®, a breakthrough innovation that uses hollow core cotton to make fabric ultra-soft and ultra-absorbent. The fabric plumps up with every wash and can regulate body temperature when in contact with skin. This amazing yarn is used to make towels, sheets and rugs.
SHRINKING THE CARBON FOOTPRINT
Welspun’s products are packed in innovative
patent-pending packaging that reduces space requirements by 33% during shipment vis-à-vis traditional packaging
THE GREENEST FACILITIES
Our manufacturing plants are zero-discharge facilities. We re-use 92% of water during our processing, conserving water in our already water-starved location of Anjar. The sludge is used to generate biogas that fires our canteen. We remain committed to protect the delicate ecology of the region. Our energy and water requirements have also successfully reduced through our consistent efforts.
Welspun has planted close to 250,000 trees & harvested two lakes with a total capacity of 3 billion liters of water in an otherwise barren region
